The 2023-24 Los Angeles Dodgers have won free agency. No matter what happens next, they have won. Two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani is a Dodger; a moment we’ve all been waiting for has finally become a reality.
The Dodgers have signed the most highly-coveted free agent in all of sports, but the work is not done for your Boys in Blue. There are still plenty of great players in free agency up for grabs for the Dodgers, including the best pitcher, Japanese sensation Yoshinobu Yamamoto.
Although the Dodgers have already paid a hefty sum for one free agent, they may not be done paying a high price for another elite talent. According to MLB insider of the New York Post Jon Heyman, Los Angeles is still interested and, more importantly, can still afford the skills of Yamamoto.
To think the Dodgers have a chance to get another elite talent via free agency is a bit. And although the odds aren’t in LA’s favor, with the two New York teams ahead of them in this race according to Heyman, you could never count out the Dodgers.
The Dodgers desperately need starting pitching this offseason, though, and there is no one better than Yamamoto.
With Ohtani finally picking his team, the flood gates of free agency should be burst open. Expect many of the top free agents to come off the board in the next few weeks — and expect the Dodgers to be very active in trying to fill their needs.
